The makers of the documentary film, the millionaires’ unit, came to us to find design: for their title cards, their lower thirds, the credits… for virtually all of the words to appear in the film.
We took on a thorough review of the film, its storyline, its period (WWI) and its visual sensibility throughout. We chose a combination of modified typewriter fonts to capture the decade; after all much of we know about these brave fighters has been gleaned from letters they wrote. We also employed a cloud design motif as an element on which to place the type, in order to capture the visual of biplanes traversing the skies.
